The Edstrom Hog Valve is very similar in design to the dog drinking valve, delivering all the water hogs need without wasting it. This simple, rugged, reliable design operates without the use of troublesome springs, orifices, or screens. To drink, the pig simply moves the stem by biting on it, which releases water into its mouth. When the pig removes its mouth, the stem is returned to the closed position by the elastic force of the silicone rubber diaphragm. The o-ring seal provides positive water shut-off.
The drinking valve is made of stainless steel and has a ½" male pipe thread connection. Designed for pigs 50 pounds and up, it is calibrated to discharge 1.5 quarts per minute at 40 psi and has an operating range of 0-50 psi. The flow rate can be reduced or increased by adjusting the tightness of the retainer screw. The Hog valve works well for goats and sheep too.
We also have special drinking valves for sows and piglets. Our high capacity nipple especially designed for use by breeding stock, is calibrated to discharge 2.5 quarts per minute at 40 psi, with an operating range of 0-50 psi. The Edstrom Piglet Valve is designed for use by baby pigs through 50 pounds and is calibrated to discharge 1.5 pints per minute at 40 psi.
