The RDS (room distribution system) carries water to each room and manifold. We’ve designed this system for cleanliness. First, we use 316 stainless steel, which has a high chromium and nickel content that provides inherent resistance to chlorinated or acidified water. (Resistance to chlorinated or acidified water is important, because this type of water is used in automated watering system to combat biofilms.) We then electropolish and passivate these components to enhance this resistance.
Another key design consideration is the elimination of dead spaces — areas where water can sit stagnant, harboring bacteria. Even small pockets in the system can reduce water quality, that’s why we designed the Clean Joint , a fitting that virtually eliminates dead spaces in pipe joints.
