Behind the Scenes: Edstrom Drinking Valve Assembly  Next Page

Before an Edstrom drinking valve is assembled, every component is inspected under magnification. Threads are inspected for burrs, o-rings and other molded silicone rubber components are inspected for flash.

Once the components pass these reviews, they are assembled into a drinking valve. Every drinking valve is 100% tested on water to verify that it has the correct flow rate. This process also allows us to check for any leaks. The A160 valve is then put on a long-term seep test, to see if the valve develops any slow drips. Once this is complete, the valves are dried. Some proceed to the manifold assembly area and others are packed for shipment.

When valves are mounted directly onto manifolds, the manifolds are put on water and tested to make sure each valve is functioning properly. The manifolds are then packed and shipped to the rack manufacturer, who installs them on the racks.

The people who assemble drinking valves and manifolds are very dedicated. They know that both animal health and important research depend upon the drinking valves functioning reliably.
